The FORGOTTEN people

FREEZE~! We need your help guys. Please make sure you scroll down and read the whole post on this one to aid the less fortunate people. . . It's the least we can do for them D:
So before I go to sleep tonight, I'm just gonna make a quick post. It's about the FORGOTTEN people ;(

About two days ago, a friend of mine sent me a link asking me to sign of for a petition for the ROHINGYA PEOPLE.

Who? HUH?? Where? WHAT? HOW??

I know right? And as you've guessed it, YES I've NO clue of WHO the hack are Rohingya people, WHERE they come from, WHY they are in need of this so called petition and most important of all, WHAT happened to them recently. . .

And so my friend gave a lil explanation, but still I haven't participated in the petition, thinking I would do it later. And yup, turned out I've forgotten all about it up until today (just now), we had a weekly discussion with the usrah group about this matter. Syaz presented about this issue and POOF it came back into my mind that I forgot to fill in the petition.

So, to cut it short, UN says that the Rohingya people are one of the most persecuted minorities in the world. Meaning, they are one of the most oppressed minorities in the world and are treated cruelly by the government and so on. Most of the Rohingyas are Muslims. The sad thing is that, when they were discriminated and treated unjustly by the authority, the Rohingya refugees were not accepted by the South East Asian countries namely Thailand, Indonesia and Malaysia, and not to mention their own neighboring country,  Bangladesh.

What happened was a brutal massacre of these people, just because they were the minority. Judging by the whole situation that has happened, the Burmese government was looking forward to perform ethnic cleansing or genocide on these people. Imagine, some of them who fled to other countries in their wooden boats with no food and water supply; with the hope that they could get help, suffered along the whole journey just to be returned back to their country and experience the traumatizing torture again. It's like you are Pi (From Life of Pi. Go watch the movie if you haven't.:O ) stuck in a life boat but 100 times worse with no company of animals, food or emergency supplies, and even more worse, you get to watch your own kind die one after the other on that very same boat! >,<

At first, I thought the situation was still bearable. But after watching a short video documentary that pretty much summarizes it all about the Rohingya people, it made me realize our responsibility as a human to help those who are in need. Being a human is enough to know this despite what religion you are grasping onto. :O
Based on the discussion, it is said that Malaysia did not accept the refugees, but I'm sure it'll come to a realization that if we are so keen to show concern about the Palestinian-Israeli conflict, how different is the Rohingya case from that that'll make us show our concern towards the Rohingya people?? In fact, these people live nearer to us, and therefore to not have the effort to help would be something irony to what we're claiming to have been doing all this while in support of the Gaza issue. I believe that even the media in Malaysia doesn't really broadcast this news that much, so we can't really depend on local newspapers all the time. Do greater things on the net by looking up on the global current issues.

So what are we to do?? -Here's a checklist:
1. Watch the video on the Rohingya people
2. Do more research on the web if you like
3. Join the petition by clicking on the link here
4. Spread the word to other people
5. Include them in your prayers

And do the same for the Palestinians as well. I'd love to write about them one day, but it wouldn't be possible to fit in all the details in a single post. Plus, their case is more severe. It needs more historical studies and critical analysis to be done. One thing I'd like to add here is that, always be thankful of what God has granted us with. He could've tested us to be in their situation, but yes, he chose something else different for us. So always be grateful and stop complaining (This one's a reminder for myself too). >< And so there you go. . . A lil help goes a long way. But it's worth it. :) Thanks for your time.

Salam~
