Living abroad for only about 4 months now is already enough to prove how fortunate it is to be a sponsored student. I mean, look at how lucky we are to have been sponsored that we can buy this and that, travel here and there. BUT one thing that bothers me most is those people who spend
It's not that I wanna condemn them for using their sponsor's money, but I just feel well, umm.. uneasy with the fact that they demand so much yet they are thankful; NOT. When the money given is just enough for their living expenses, they complain for the small amount. When students of other sponsors get their allowances raised, they want theirs to be the same too. They keep on giving reasons demanding for a higher allowance. How bout their studies? I wouldn't even dare to say more about that. When the sponsors set a cut-off point for the students to maintain, again they whine instead of trying to achieve the target. I mean, I myself am aware of where I stand. And I find that it ain't as easy as it looks. It's DOUBLE TRIPLE QUADRUPLE the challenge of studying in local U's. . . D: I'm just worried for those who don't take their studies seriously. Not to mention disappointed with their unappreciative attitude.
I'm talking about a VERY22 BIG RESPONSIBILITY here -you owe not only your parents but also YOUR SPONSORS. I know22. . . When I say OWE your sponsors here, people will start to argue saying that "Our sponsors DON'T OWN us", "We still have our choice", etc22. Hold on, just pause there for a sec, I'm talking about their money that you've spent throughout how many years, doesn't matter if it's 3, 4 or 5 years, the money ISN'T YOURS and NEVER WILL BE. It belongs to them and the citizens in which the percentage of your parents contributing to the annual tax it is minor compared to the total of people paying it, and therefore you do not have the right to argue on how you actually deserve a full scholarship instead of a convertible loan, etc in which most of the sponsors will only require their scholars to pay 10% of the sponsorship that they've given. So dude, be thankful yaw~
I got into this conversation with a few friends of mine here and I gotta say that sometimes I don't agree with their mentality of wanting EVERYTHING TO GO ACCORDING TO THEIR OWN WAY. I mean, you'll be graduating soon as an engineer/ doctor/ teacher/ biochemist/ blah22 and so on, would it actually hurt for you to serve your nation or pay back your sponsors in the future? Not a total of 100% of what you've spent but only in the range of 10%-25%. That's good enough. Plus, it won't even be a lump sum that they're asking for. You're only required to pay bit by bit via your salary income. C'mon guys, most of you are planning to stay abroad, work overseas, bear your children there, have them educated there and so on. . . . Don't friggin' beat around the bush with me yaww~ setakat bayar balik berapa percent tu takkan tak boleh kot? (Ha kan dah terkeluar bahasa Melayu saya. *I only speak Malay when I'm mad, as in geram* grrhhhh .. . . >,< ) What made me become more "PFFTHHHH~" during the conversation was when one of the scholars went "Takut tamak in the future nanti". .. .. WHAT!? Excusez-moi? Vous voulez repetez mademoiselle? :@ *I only speak French when I'm mad, as in furieux* brrhhh. . . >,<
GOSH that's such a lame excuse! You're being pathetic man. . . It's always about personal goals isn't it? Sigh~ Well, I don't mean to criticize more, but still, the way you said it kinda says it all. . . I was like, nope not in the future, but you're showing your greediness now actually. Though deep inside you must've had good intentions in you, and that you wanna work hard to get good results, I would still prefer if you don't have the thought about not having to pay at all in the first place; that you wanna live life easily by just having things done your way. . .
My parents always tell me that in anything that you do, always think of the consequences of you letting your chances slip away. And now that you have that chance, hold on tightly to it. Don't screw up. They also remind me to always be thankful that I am one of the chosen ones to get the sponsorship out of the thousands of people out there who wanted the same thing. From then on, I can actually see how relieved my parents were when I received your sponsorship offer. They would've had to work thrice as hard as they are working now to keep me well fed and in school at all times. Then again, not all parents are like that. Some might teach their children the opposite, by only asking them to pursue their personal goals -which leads them to become more selfish at the end of the day. And I have to say this is very disappointing. I know this coz my dad too was a scholar. .He had settled his convertible loan in which wasn't really much of a problem so long as you try not to ask more from what you deserve to earn (don't be greedy in other words). I mean, slowly you'll get more from the sincere things that you do by giving back more. And my dad also told me the fact that there are a lot of people who just vanished away with their lives without paying back their sponsors or even contributing back to the nation, just makes things worse for the future generation.
Yup that's super saddening. What else is new now? Well, think about this, now that the government is more strict about scholarships and loans, more people complain. Why? -Just because of these people who are not willing to sacrifice their lives for the sake of others and their nation, and are too selfish that they can only visualize themselves in the future; the present and future generations suffer. . .Like seriously, the conversation had taught me a lot in a sense of how money can totally illuminate us from thinking wisely. At our age, people had spoken about this. And this links to how the adults are thinking today. EXACTLY THE SAME. Coz they are the ones who shape us. And I hate to say this, but we are the product. So, what I'm tryinna say here is that, parents too play an important role on how the minds of their children should be set. I'm not pointing this matter to certain people, but as a whole, it is just a reminder on how things should be perceived. I believe that there's still room for change in our attitude. And therefore, to all the scholars out there. . . Remember your roots, regardless of your financial status, you should all be thankful that you are the chosen ones. So as a scholar, THINK and ACT like one. :3
That's all for now folks. Arigatou for lending your eyeballs *to read the post* 8) HEE~ Jyaann~!:D
